TRAFFICKING: VISIT OF THE SPECIAL RAPPORTEUR TO ALBANIA AND GREECE
The Special Rapporteur
on the Sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography,
Juan Miguel Petit, will visit Albania from 31 October to 7 November
2005, and Greece from 8 to 14 November. In both countries, Mr.
Petit will mainly examine the trafficking of children for prostitution
and other purposes.

CRCA TO ESTABLISH
THE FIRST PROFESSIONAL HELP LINE FOR CHILDREN OF ALBANIA
Tirana 29 April 2004
The Children's Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA, the
major child rights organisation in Albania, announced today the
establishment of the very first professional help-line for children
in Albania. The centre called "Tirana Child Helpline"
and will be open officially in early May 2005. The centre will
combine a 24 hour phone service to children with a multi-disciplinary
team of child abuse experts of doctors, lawyers, psychologists
and social workers, which will serve daily to children who come
to visit the centre. Tirana Child Helpline at the first year of
the activity will cover 1/3 of all children in Albania, while
during the second and third year the phone service will become
national.

HOLD SUCCESSFULLY NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON CRC CONCLUDING OBSERVATIONS
Tirana 27 April 2004
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania
in partnership with the Childrens Human Rights Centre of
Albania CRCA organised today a one-day national workshop
on the issue Concluding Observations of the UN Committee
on the Rights of the Child for the implementation of the Convention
on the Rights of the Child in Albania. The workshop was
funded by the Olof Palme International Center, Sweden.

TRAINING FOR POLICE AND EDUCATORS IN JUVENILE PRISON IN TIRANA
Tirana 12 April 2005
- The Children's Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA started
today a two-day training for the the educational and police staff
of the male Juvenile Prison in Albania, the Prison of Vaqar. The
training, which is funded by Soros Foundation in Albania, is part
of the CRCA Juvenile Justice Programme.

GAMES ORGANISE TOLERANCE DAY IN THE JUVENILE PRISON

- The Children's Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA and UISP-Peace
Games organised today the DAY OF TOLERANCE in the male Juvenile
Prison of Vaqar, in Tirana. The activity which was organised in
close partnership with General Directorate of Prisons, Authority
of Prison of Vaqar and High School "Vellezerit Kajtazi",
aimed to sensitise the juveniles in prisons about tolerance.

THE PREPARATIONS FOR GLOBAL CAMPAIGN "END TO EDUCATE POVERTY"

- NGO's in Albania started yesterday their preparations for the
Action Week "Educate to End Poverty", as part of the
preparations of the campaign that take place globally between
24-30 April. The activities in Albania are leaded by the Children's
Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA, the major child rights
organisation in the country. Compare to other years, this year
the campaign has raised interest of many other child rights organisation
in the country.

today that is at it final stages of publishing its new study-research
on child participation in Albania. The research which will come
under the title "I have the Right to Decide" covers
the issue of child participation at public decision-making process,
especially at the level of schools, local and national Government
works.

CRCA HOSTS
SUCCESSFULLY THE EUROPEAN TRAINING PROGRAMME ON TRAFFICKING IN
CHILDREN

- The Children's Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA hosted
successfully the first meeting of the European Training Programme
on Trafficking in Children, which was organised by ECPAT Netherlands
in Albania between 18-19 March 2005, with the participation of
more then 30 NGO representatives from Western and Eastern European
countries. The Training Programme, which first meeting took place
in Tirana and Durres, aims to strengthen the capacities of Governments
and NGO's in Western and Eastern European countries on child trafficking
issue. The programme is financially supported by the European
Commissions AGIS program, the Oak Foundation and the Body
shop Foundation.
