Tirana 08 April 2005 - The Children's Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA announced today that is at it final stages of publishing its new study-research on child participation in Albania. The research which will come under the title "I have the Right to Decide" covers the issue of child participation at public decision-making process, especially at the level of schools, local and national Government works. The study which was conducted during 2004 is funded by the long-term partner of CRCA, the Olof Palme International Center Sweden, which has funded similar research-studies of CRCA since 2003. "I have the Right to Decide" compiles data on the importance of child participation, public policies on child participation at decision-making process. Also it describes the perception and understanding of child participation in the eyes of children and those of adults, based on interviews and data collected for this research. It does not stop here. It further identifies good practices where child participation has been the main core from the programme implementations at the level of Government and NGO's. Although some of the initiatives of the Albanian Government may not be considered as such, they could serve as good models in the future for child participation. A list of conclusions and recommendations follows the research, among which one concludes that although child participation is becoming a guiding principal to many initiatives from the Government and NGO's, still many face the difficulty of making participation a reality to every child in the country. The research was conducted by Ms. Alma Maksutaj and Mr. Altin Hazizaj of CRCA. The research will be made first available in Albanian at http://www.crca.org.al/shqip/Raportet%20kombetare.htm and then in English at http://www.crca.org.al/national%20reports.htm For more info, please contact: Children's Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA - PUBLICISE YOUR EVENTS AT CRCA WEB SITE Dear Friends and Colleagues of IRCCRA, Did you know that Information and Research Centre for Children's Rights in Albania is the largest on-line database of news, information, data and research on children in Albania?
